If you insist
on bringing your own
RECOMENDED TACKLE: Due to limited space, it's recomended that no more than four
(4) rods be brought each. Three(3) would even be better. *1 LIVE BAIT combo 25lb. *1 LIVE BAIT 30lb *1 8-10 ft
40lb.stick for casting jigs. We have plenty of trolling rods on board.
Recomended Iron: TADYS (AA,A1,9/0 crome/etc) SUMO's, IRON MAN~ Big Krocodilles,
FISH TRAP~ MEGA BAIT, Hacker, Candybar etc. BUT! HEAVY or Mediums do work the BEST! (not surface lightweight iron).
WE DO HAVE RODS ONBOARD/ Peen Jigmaster 500 w/25lb
maxima THE TROLLINGRODS are 4/0's and 6/0's W/60lb and 80lb mono IT is a good idea to wear rubber boots,
and if possible rain pants or the bottoms of your foul weather gear,as the crew will be hoseing the deck off from
time to time.
Other Angler info. Usually the ANGLER will leave
BROOKINGS between 3am and 4am. The reason for this is to not run over the fish in the dark. Very often, the first
edge, or warm water occurs in the 20 mile area. The Angler will cross several of these edges on the way out to
the offshore banks, 40 to 50 miles off Brookings. The trip back in can sometimes be the most exciting, as the afternoon
fish come up and put on an explosive surface feeding show, as we travel through sometimes 25miles of spot after
spot of krashing, jumping Albacore!!
LING COD/ SHALLOW WATER ROCKFISH:
THE ANGLER, can carry a maximum of 25 passengers, although usually 14 to 17 passengers is just about right for
fun!
We leave at 6 A.M. return at 12noon. All tackle is provided: Fish cleaning onboard:
We will teach you how:
TYPES OF FISH: Ling Cod, Black Rockfish, Yellowtail rockfish, China rockfish, widow rockfish and COHO SALMON June22
Travel time to the fishing grounds is usually about 30 minutes.
Bring a camera! There's lots of stuff to see out there!! WHALES* DOLPHINS* PUFFINS*AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COASTLINE
ANYWHERE!! OFTENTIMES THE BOAT WILL FISH RIGHT NEAR 100to200ft ROCK ISLANDS loaded with all types of bird life!!
The whole family can go on these 4 to 6 hr trips, hot coffee is provided; bring a lunch if you like. NO wine or
hard liquors allowed. Beer is ok. The ANGLER is US Coast Guard inspected and certified annually, Captain has been
a licensed MASTER for 29 years, and all ANGLER crewmembers are CPR and FIRSTAID certified as well as Coast Guard
approved chemical testing. VERY FUN......!!
All you really need is a Fishing License, which you can purchase
at our shop the day of your charter. The cost of a day License is $12.00
Bringing a lunch or snack is also a good idea, we will be out 4 to 6 hours for bottom fishing.
Small coolers are acceptable.
Brookings is referred to as the Banana belt of the Oregon Coast.
We actually have very nice weather here, hopefully that holds true when your here, but it is best to prepare for
rain.
The Angler does have a comfortable cabin to get out of the weather if required. there is also a table to sit at
for lunch. There is also an enclosed head and a galley with hot coffee.
It's a good idea to dress in layers and bring rain gear when needed.
